Enjoy learning an ancient Chinese tradition of maintaining your health, fitness, and flexibility with Tai Chi. Tai Chi dates back from the year 1247 when Chan Sanfeng introduced it after his many years studying Shao Lin and Kong Fu. At first it was not publicly taught and was an esoteric technique for enhanced life and mentality. He is said to have lived over 130 years. The art is characterized by contrasting and complimentary movements being slow and soft vs fast and hard.
Compared to other forms of fighting styles, Tai Chi is one of the gentler ones you will find, almost like a fighting yoga. The easy, slow, flowing movements enable anyone to enjoy no matter their age, or gender. People can enjoy its calm movements, easy flow, and focus on breathing in order to gain strength, flexibility and coordination.
Tai Chi is essentially a slow form of a Chinese Martial Art practiced by millions of people around the globe due to it being shown to be helpful in fighting sickness, and curing many body ailments.
In China, it is believed that Tai Chi can delay aging and prolong life, increase flexibility, strengthen muscles and tendons, and aid in the treatment of heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis, Alzheimer’s, dementia, depression, and many other illnesses. If that isn’t enough to start practicing we don’t know what is!
Tai Chi is often described as “meditation in motion,” but it might as well be called “medication in motion.” This mind-body practice can help treat or prevent many age-related health problems. Once people start practicing, it often becomes a life long habit which they can keep going back to, to reap its benefits.
You can begin with Tai Chi even if you aren’t in the best shape. Its gentle and slow movements doesn’t leave you exhausted, yet it addresses all the key components of fitness—muscle strength, flexibility, balance, whilst also bringing in that mind-body connection.
